Venue Details

The 9:30 Club Washington opened in 1980, the venue getting its name from its then-current address - 930 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C. During these early days, the 9:30 Club Washington provided a platform for rock and alternative bands primarily, showcasing the likes of The Police, The Ramones, Mod Fun and The Bangles.

In order to accommodate the increasingly impressive musical lineup as well as the growing number of fans demanding tickets, the 9:30 Club Washington was forced to close and relocate, reopening in a bigger space in 1996. In the years following, the 9:30 Club schedule saw some of the music industry's biggest hitters take to the venue's stage. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, O.A.R, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Bob Dylan are just a few of those major acts featured on the 9:30 Club schedule post-1996.
